Meta Connect Highlights Burgeoning Smart Glasses Lineup

Meta Connect this year made it clear that the social media giant is fully committed to its burgeoning line of smart glasses. The hardware was ubiquitous at the annual event, worn by both Meta staff and influencers, with most product demos revolving around the technology. One of the most notable reveals was Meta’s new, still-unreleased, audio-only smart glasses. This product follows previous privacy concerns regarding camera-equipped specs. The new model features six microphones but no camera, eliminating native ways to record surroundings and addressing surveillance fears. These glasses are significantly lighter and more comfortable than previous iterations. Meta is emphasizing entertainment and communication with this model, allowing users to listen to music and take calls without reaching for their phones. Furthermore, the glasses will integrate with Muse, Meta’s personal agentic system. This integration allows wearers to speak directly to the AI to carry out tasks. Meta also plans to personalize the experience by letting users choose from various digital avatars to represent the agent during interactions.
