Google launches Gemini 3.8 Live with real-time Live Avatar feature

Google has rolled out an update to its **Gemini 3.8 Live** model, introducing an interactive feature called **Live Avatar**. The feature creates an animated AI persona that displays facial expressions and lip-syncs in real time during spoken interactions. Currently restricted to **Gemini Enterprise** customers, Live Avatar supports seamless transitions across **97 languages** without degrading video quality or introducing visual drift. During live interaction tests, the avatar successfully demonstrated multilingual speech in English and Japanese while displaying supplementary information on screen. The deployment follows the recent introduction of the Gemini 3.8 Live model, designed for near real-time visual input processing. Google offers a library of preset avatars while allowing enterprise clients to build custom avatars. All avatar outputs incorporate Google's invisible **SynthID** watermark alongside identity-protection safeguards.
