Meta introduces AI-powered game creation tools for Horizon on mobile

Meta has unveiled a new strategy to encourage game development on its Horizon social platform by introducing two AI-powered tools. Horizon Create, a mobile app, and Horizon Studio, a browser-based application, will allow users to generate games using simple AI prompts. These tools are currently available in early access via a waitlist. To address Horizon's growth challenges, Meta plans to integrate these games directly into Facebook and Instagram. Games created with the new tools will be recommended in user feeds and playable instantly. According to Meta, users scrolling through Instagram can join a multiplayer session within seconds by tapping a game clip, eliminating the need for downloads or external redirects. The company noted that engaging and stable games that keep players returning will receive higher reach. This move follows a similar push by Roblox into AI-driven development. It also marks Meta's continued pivot toward mobile accessibility for Horizon, which originally launched as a VR-exclusive experience. By embedding AI into the creation process, Meta aims to lower the barrier to entry for creators and increase the variety of content available on its social platforms.
