Xiaomi Launches 18 Pro Series with Advanced Privacy Display Technology

Xiaomi’s new 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max launched in China today, featuring a more flexible take on the privacy display technology introduced this year on Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra. The devices combine this tech with returning rear screens, dual 200-megapixel cameras, and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips. A global launch is confirmed for later this year. While the design remains similar to the 17 Pro series, including the functional rear displays for notifications and selfies, the primary upgrades are found in the front screen. Xiaomi’s hardware-level privacy features allow for granular control; when activated for a specific app, the privacy filter applies to notifications, floating windows, and split-screen views without affecting the rest of the display. The system also utilizes location-based triggers to toggle privacy modes at work or home, and smart triggers for environments like elevators or airports. Additionally, the selfie camera can detect prying eyes and suggest activating privacy mode. The Pro model features a 6.4-inch display and a 7,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max scales up to a 6.9-inch screen and an 8,500mAh battery.
