Meta Unveils Tamagotchi-Like ‘Muse Charm’ Wearable for Its AI Agent

Meta has introduced a palm-sized wearable device called the Muse Charm, designed to provide users with direct physical access to its newly launched personal AI assistant, Muse. Revealed by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during Meta's annual Connect conference, the gadget is small enough to fit inside a pocket or clip onto a keychain. It features a compact screen that displays a digital avatar representing the AI agent, internally nicknamed "Jolly." Users can issue voice queries to the device, which is programmed to handle assigned tasks. Zuckerberg stated that the wearable is not shipping immediately, as teams are still finalizing internal component layouts, but promised it would be ready to ship in time for the holiday season this December. "We packed the whole Muse experience, including the whole real-time voice and avatar stack, into something that fits on a keychain and is always available to talk to," Zuckerberg said during his presentation. "You just go ahead and tap here in the fingerprint sensor in the corner, and you can start talking without having to unlock a phone or open an app." He noted that for individuals not wearing smart glasses, the charm serves as the quickest method to engage with Muse. The device, reminiscent of nostalgic Tamagotchi hardware, gives Meta a low-stakes avenue to experiment with dedicated AI wearables while expanding distribution channels for its conversational agent.
